Before The Start! This is what the garden looked like before we began to dig! | Old BuildingThis is the unsafe old building that we dismantled behind the house in order to get the stone we needed |
The Hole!My friend Martin, checking everything is ok after he had excavated the first few layers of soil. | The hole gets bigger! The hole gets bigger, I get more stressed! |
Oh No!!How am I going to lay concrete foundations in this mess? | Readymix Concrete arrives!Another daunting task, I have forty five minutes to offload 6 cubic meters of concrete! |
Phew!Foundations laid and ground prepared for the floor before the snow arrives! | Big Stones! When I got to grips with the stones i realised that many of them were too big and heavy to move! I had think of something....... |
The Solution.....with the help of another friend, Steve Husband (genius), we built a portable tower crane that could revolve through 360 degrees and lift a 500kg stone to 2.5 meters in height! | Crane.... |
A very big stone! The crane works beautifully! I cannot guess acurately how heavy this stone was, but i could not make it move an inch on the ground without some huge levers, however, no problem for this apparatus. Thanks Steve! | |
